Summary of Major Responsibilities
The Biorepository & Lab Manager will be responsible for the management and operation Gregor's biorepository. This includes maintaining and organizing biological samples, ensuring compliance with regulations, and managing the day-to-day operations of the biorepository. The Biorepository & Lab Manager will report to the CTO at Gregor.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Manage the collection, processing, storage, and distribution of biological samples
- Ensure compliance with regulations, including those related to biosafety and biosecurity
- Develop and implement standard operating procedures for the biorepository
- Train and supervise biorepository staff
- Monitor and maintain the quality of samples, including tracking inventory levels and managing expiration dates
- Collaborate with researchers to identify and acquire samples for specific projects
- Implement and maintain a secure and efficient information management system for tracking samples
- Distribute, receive, and process specimen collection kits
- Order and maintain inventory of laboratory supplies
- Continuously improve the Biorepository process and operations
- Other duties as assigned.
Education and industry experience:
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g. biology, biochemistry, biomedical engineering)
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a biorepository or related field
- Strong understanding of regulations related to biosafety and biosecurity
- Experience with sample tracking and inventory management
- Experience with laboratory equipment and techniques
- Excellent organizational and communication skills
- Strong project management and leadership abilities
- Ability to work for up to 8 hours a day in an office environment.
- Ability to work up to 6 hours a day in a laboratory environment.
- Ability to lift and move up to 40 pounds on an occasional basis.
